The North Dakota Association of Community Providers honored Easter Seals Goodwill, ND Inc. Direct Support Professional Anna Pederson with the DSP of the Year award at the annual NDACP conference Wednesday afternoon.
Pederson was notified of the honor earlier this month.
“I actually wasn’t aware of the nomination until I received a phone call from my [Program Coordinator],” Pederson said. “Breanna had said ‘I have some news to tell you...’ and I was shocked to find out I was nominated, let alone that I had won!”
Pederson was one of nearly a dozen DSPs around North Dakota to receive the honor.
Pederson said she didn’t always see being a DSP as a career, but with six years under her belt she’s doing work she’s passionate about.
“Doing Direct Care was going to be short term to save up money to go to college, but once I got started I fell in love and never left the field,” Pederson said. “Working with individuals of all abilities and the experiences I have had have been substantial in my growth on the job and as a person in general.”
Pederson has been with Easter Seals Goodwill for three years as a DSP.
Easter Seals Goodwill staff would like to thank Pederson again for her hard work and dedication to her position.
The NDACP is made up of 32 organizations and provides services to more than 195 communities statewide, according to its website.
